Shooting A Shooter: Behind the Scenes with Mike Lerner

Back in August of 2013, just a month or two after getting my first "real" camera, I signed up for a workshop with Mike Lerner in Atlanta, GA. I had seen tons of his work with Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and a few other big names and knew there was a wealth of knowledge to draw upon so needless to say I was super excited to get to learning.

Fastforward a year and a half and I've been able to get back with Mike to help with a shoot in a loft studio in LA. Getting up bright and early to beat Friday rush hour, finding parking in a sketchy parking garage, and walking into a huge building that was pretty much unmarked was a new experience, but once we started talking about plans for the day and meeting everyone, I was right back in my groove.

During the shoot I was able to pick up on little figures of speech, directions, and techniques I never would have learned from any Youtube video or book. Here is my testament to hard work and networking. Below are some of my behind the scenes shots with Mike, his model Ashton, and my second attempt at using a Nikon D750.

Enjoy!
